Voters want Labour to create a Donald Trump-style department for slashing waste and wokery, a poll has found.
Nearly two-thirds say they back the idea of a ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ (DOGE) to cut billions of pounds of spending on bureaucracy and ‘non-jobs’ such as diversity and inclusion officers.
Some 66 per cent said improving efficiency should be Sir Keir Starmer’s main priority, rather than cutting spending on public services (18 per cent) or hiking taxes (7 per cent).
