In an awesome moment during a podcast interview he did with former Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson, former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. explained how it was his wife, the stunningly beautiful Hollywood star Cheryl Hines, who encouraged him not to shun former President Donald Trump and instead meet with him.
As background, Mr. Kennedy’s remarks on the matter were somewhat surprising, as it had formerly been reported that Mrs. Hines was, at best, skeptical of a Kennedy-Trump alliance in the 2024 election as a way of preventing a Kamala presidency, with some claiming that she was quite opposed to the idea and opposed his decision to endorse Trump.
Speaking to Carlson about the matter, Mr. Kennedy said that he was originally skeptical of speaking to the Trump campaign, and that when he was first asked by a campaign representative if he’d be interested in talking with Trump, he was uninterested with the opportunity, telling that campaign representative, “I don’t think so.”
But then things changed thanks to his wife, who told him that he should hear out Trump and at least see if he has anything worth hearing, so rather than turn them down flat, he should hear the Trump team out. He said, “And then, and part of this was, I just thought it was a nonstarter with Cheryl. And I called Cheryl up, and she said to me, ‘You should hear them out.’”
Mr. Kennedy also explained how Mr. Carlson had helped encourage the relationship, telling him, “And then I got a text from you — you and I have each other’s cell phones — and you had an unknown cell phone number, which you had linked me into, which was President Trump’s number. And you said, ‘You know, he’s waiting for your call.’”
Continuing, Mr. Kennedy told Tucker that because of the assassination attempt and RNC, they put the conversation on hold, but that later turned into an endorsement of Trump and closer partnership. He said, “Then we put it on hold. They wanted me to do something at the convention, and I said ‘no — I’m not going to do that.’”

Mr. Kennedy, dropping out of the race and supporting former President Trump, said, “Sixteen months ago, in April of 2023, I launched my campaign for president of the United States. I began this journey as a Democrat, the party of my father, my uncle, the party which I pledged my own allegiance to long before I was old enough to vote.”
Speaking about what the Democratic Party used to be, he said, “We were the party of labor, of the working class. The Democrats were the party of government transparency and the champion of the environment. Our party was the bulwark against big money interests and corporate power. True to its name, it was the party of democracy.”
And, trashing the Democrats, he said, “I left the party to run as an independent. The mainstream of American politics and journalism derided my decision.” He added, “And, most sadly — at all, for me, for the Democratic Party — in the name of saving Democracy, the Democratic Party set itself to dismantling it, lacking confidence in its candidate, that its candidate could win in a fair election at the voting booth.”
