GMB’s Susanna Reid lashes out at Labour’s Peter Kyle over ‘revenge’ Elon Musk summit snub_Nhy

Susanna Reid has quizzed Labour MP Peter Kyle after Elon Musk was “snubbed” from the government’s investment summit.

Claims emerged that PM Keir Starmer had snubbed Musk after the billionaire fumed at the Prime Minister on X, formerly Twitter, and labelled him “two-tier Keir’ in flurry of savage posts.

Science Secretary Peter Kyle appeared on Good Morning Britain on Monday (October 14) as they discussed Elon Musk’s absence, and Susanna was quick to call it out.

Speaking alongside her co-host Richard Madeley, she said: “That feels like an oversight? He’s the world’s most successful businessman.”

Kyle defended the decision and said they’ve engaged with global investment programmes, which Elon Musk doesn’t have at this time.

Kyle continued: “He would be very welcome to be here if he had. If he announces such a programme, I’ll be first in the queue knocking on his door.”

Richard added: “So not inviting Elon Musk has got nothing at all to do with the fact he slagged off the Prime Minister?”

Kyle insisted: “Absolutely not”, as he defended Starmer and stated: “With him it’s always country first”. Kyle added that if Elon Musk had an investment programme underway, they would be fighting to have it at the summit.

Musk previously responded to his lack of an invitation to the investment summit with a brutal dig in response to a post by the BBC of the news.

He wrote: “I don’t think anyone should go to the UK when they’re releasing convicted pedophiles in order to imprison people for social media posts.”

At the time that Musk shared his comments, ministers fumed that they were “totally unjustifiable” and “pretty deplorable”.
