While we at The American Tribune have tried to keep up and produce fun articles on some of the worst and funniest of President Biden’s gaffes, a few have slipped under the radar, included amongst them this hilarious video from November of 2023 in which President Joe Biden bizarrely attempted to give a speech that was, for a brief moment, about Taylor Swift and Beyonce, but ended up just gaffing and looking foolish.

That came on November 20, 2023, when President Biden was giving his annual pardoning of the presidential turkey speech, and after rambling for a long while, he completely mixed up the pop stars about whom he seemed to be trying to speak, getting all mixed up in a confusing tangle of words about pop stars and concert tours.

Biden’s comment came as he was comparing the presidential turkeys there, Liberty and Bell, to pop star tours and traveling. Beginning, he said, One thing I want to make clear that was not clear then — you know, even though Liberty and Bell are from Minnesota, they’re named for a famous Liberty Bell in Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. These birds have a new appreciation for the word ‘Let Freedom Ring.’”

Continuing, he joked about the apples the turkeys like eating, saying they like Honeycrisp apples, and then jumped into weirdly commenting on ice hockey. He said, So, I’m told by the Turkey Federation of Liberty Bell — and Liberty and Bell, they love Honeycrisp apples — not bad, huh?; ice hockey — I sure in hell would like to see them play ice hockey; 1,000 [10,000] Lakes; and the Mall of America.”

That’s when he got to the part about the pop stars and the turkeys travelling. He said, calling Beyonce “Brittany” and confusing her with Taylor Swift, said, “Now, just to get here, Liberty and Bell had to beat some tough odds — the competition. They had to work hard, show patience, and be willing to travel over a thousand miles. You could say even it’s harder than getting a — a ticket to the Renaissance Tour or — or — Brit- — Britney’s [Taylor’s] tour. She’s down in — it’s kind of warm in Brazil right now.”

For reference, at the time, Beyoncé’s “Renaissance Tour” wrapped up in October of 2023, a month before the Biden speech. Taylor Swift, on the other hand, had her Eras Tour going on at around the same time, and it was sold out, with tickets quite hard to get due to interest in them, and the tour had made its way to Brazil when Biden spoke on it.

The Citizen Free Press account on X (formerly Twitter), commenting on what happened and using it to comment on Biden’s age, said, “Joe Biden has no idea what he’s talking about. He attempts a joke about how difficult it is to get tickets to see Beyonce but calls her “Brittany.”

He then follows up that gaffe by confusing Beyonce (“Brittany”) with Taylor Swift. He turned 81 today.”
