Donald Trump will be proved right over his bizarre claims migrants are eating cats and dogs, Nigel Farage has bizarrely predicted.

The Reform UK leader – responding to one of the stand out moments in last night’s Presidential debate between Mr Trump and Kamala Harris – said he “always grabs the headlines”.

The Republican candidate claimed that Haitian immigrants are eating pet dogs and cats in Springfield, Ohio.

Asked about immigration during the television debate Mrs Harris, he said: “They’re eating the dogs, the people that came in, they’re eating the cats.

“They’re eating the pets of the people that live there, and this is what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame.

“People are saying their dog was eaten by people.”

Speaking on GB News Nigel Farage said: “It doesn’t matter what Trump does, he always grabs the headlines.

“They’re eating the dogs, they’re eating the cats: I promise you, as with everything else he says, it will prove to be true. I have no doubt.

“And in fact, when he was President, he actually signed an order to make it illegal in America to eat dogs or cats but that’s by the by.

“But I think a lot of people thought that being off script, Harris would fall flat on her face. That didn’t happen.

“What surprised me was Trump’s best line was, you’re saying all these things but you’ve been there for three and a half years, and he delivered that at the end of the debate, not at the beginning.”

Mrs Harris and Mr Trump clashed over abortion, immigration and American democracy.

The Democratic candidate promised tax cuts aimed at the middle class and said she would push to restore a federally guaranteed right to abortion overturned by the Supreme Court two years ago.

Trump said his proposed tariffs would help the U.S. stop being cheated by allies on trade and said he would work to swiftly end the Russia-Ukraine war — though he twice refused to say he believed it was in America’s interest for Ukraine to win the war.

Some of Harris’s most aggressive attacks on Trump came as they clashed on abortion, one of the biggest issues for Democrats since the US Supreme Court overturned a constitutional right to the procedure in 2022.

“One does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree the government – and Donald Trump, certainly – should not be telling a woman what to do with her body,” Harris said.

She said Trump would “sign an abortion ban” if re-elected and cited conservative states that prohibit the procedure while allowing limited exceptions.

Trump, for whom the issue is a political liability, countered: “What she says is an absolute lie. I am not in favour of an abortion ban.”

Trump said Harris had no policies, accusing her of copying some of his own ideas on the campaign trial and that he was “going to send her a Maga hat”, while also arguing she would be no different from President Biden.

“She has no policy,” he said.

“Remember this, she is Biden,” he said at another point.

Ms Harris countered: “Clearly, I am not Joe Biden.”
