“They’ve Lost Their Soul”: Former RFK Jr. Running Mate Shreds Democratic Party Over Treatment Of Him [WATCH]

Appearing on Fox News Channel’s “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Tuesday, August 27, Nicole Shanahan, the former running mate of independent political candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., slammed the modern Democratic Party for what she characterized as its unfair and shameful treatment of Mr. Kennedy during the primary season.

During her appearance on Mr. Watters’ show, Ms. Shanahan argued that the Democratic Party is losing its moral compass as the years grind on and it drifts in a shameful direction, saying that it is in the process of abandoning its foundational principles of dignity and respect for all. Shanahan isn’t the first to criticize the modern Democratic Party as tensions regarding its treatment of candidates like Mr. Kennedy and the primary process in 2024 boil over.

Speaking about that aspect of the situation, Ms. Shanahan told Jesse Watters that the party hasn’t just behaved in a shocking way, but has behaved in such a manner that makes it look like it is sinking ever lower morally. She said, “This is wild. I’m asking myself what happened to the party of when they go low, we go high. Cause right now they’re just going lower and lower and lower.”

Continuing on much the same note, Ms. Shanahan told Watters that the party’s treatment of Mr. Kennedy was shocking, saddening, and worrying. She said, “And I’m shocked. I’m saddened. I’m worried for them, honestly. They’ve lost their soul. They’ve lost their direction. And, you know, if you’re going to pick a target, you got to pick it a little bit better.”

Ms. Shanahan wasn’t done. She added that Mr. Kennedy is far from being evil or vengeful despite being constantly attacked, and instead remains quite kind. She said, “Robert F. Kennedy is one of the kindest human beings I’ve had the pleasure to get to know. He said it the other day, he was like, I don’t have a bone of revenge in my body.”

She also noted, on much that same note, that Mr. Kennedy’s positive demeanor comes despite near-constant attack over the years. She said, “This is somebody who’s been attacked over years now from all different angles.” Giving an example of that attitude, she added, “Big Pharma’s come after him harder than just about anybody. And I have to say, Bobby shows up with grace every time.”

On the note of RFK Jr.’s conflict with the modern, much-changed Democratic Party, Mr. Kennedy recently went viral on X (formerly Twitter) for sharing his views on old school environmentalism and how the modern climate change movement is far different. He said, “I am an old-school environmentalist — a lover and protector of nature. The Democrats obsess about counting CO2, while neglecting urgent issues such as the chemicals in our food, soil, and water.”

Continuing, he claimed that many of the purported climate change solutions are harmful to nature, saying, “Ironically, many carbon-motivated environmental policies actually harm the environment. Offshore wind damages marine animals, especially whales. Mining for lithium, coltran, silver, copper, rare earths etc. to make batteries is laying waste to vast ecosystems.”

He then noted that the Trump team shares many of his concerns, saying, “I have found to my surprise that many people on the Trump team, including President Trump himself, care about the same environmental issues I do.

Furthermore, these issues can help to unify our nation — because almost everyone wants clean air, water, food, and soil. Almost everyone values thriving ecosystems and wildlife. Environment was a unifying issue in the 1960s, supported by Democrats and Republicans alike. I am committed to reviving that consensus in the next Trump administration.”
